My name is Madison Taylor, I am Liz Taylor’s daughter. It is with the heaviest heart that I regret to inform you of my mother’s sudden passing on June 23rd of this past year. I have spent the last couple years watching my mom grow Teach BeTween the Lines and learned many things from her.
For starters, I learned about the store itself. I learned about advertising, responding to questions, and reviewed many products myself. If I ever had a question about something in my English classes, my mom would pull up a lesson plan she had made and would have me go through it. I’m not going to lie: at the time I hated it. I now look back after graduating though and realize how much help she truly gave me during my school years.
I also learned about dedication, strength, resilience, and faith. As I watched her start something from scratch and create it into what it is today, I saw such an amazing woman--someone who had the pure will to work as hard as she did, with the faith that it would turn into something so incredible. I learned what it meant to be a strong, independent woman.
As we are going through all the horrible things that come with the passing of someone so loved, my family and I struggled with what we were going to do with everything she created. After some time, we came to the conclusion that we just couldn’t let all of my mom’s hard work go to waste. We decided that the best thing we could do was to have me “take over” in some areas to try our best to keep the business alive. I am going to try my hand at advertising and blog posts and some of the other fun things that come with this business. I may not have my mom’s experience. However, I do have the perspective of a student, and I plan to work just as hard as my mom did. She was able to create 100+ incredible products that are still able to be purchased and used to keep the creativity and engagement alive in classrooms all over the world.
I would like to formally introduce myself. Like I stated earlier, my name is Madison Taylor, I am 18 and graduated High School this past June and I am starting college this fall. When I was a kid, my dream was to be a teacher. I would set up a pretend classroom in my bedroom and hand out pretend assignments and teach pretend lessons. I hope that a student’s perspective on teaching ELA can be something helpful to teachers. I also happen to be a tech geek and plan to write some blog posts on how to convert PDF’s and what to do with digital teaching, as I went to online school for 2+ years. If that is something that interests you, I hope you plan to stick around through this journey with me. My mom’s products aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and are still available for purchase here.
In the next coming weeks, I hope to get her business back up and off the ground with different sales and advertisements. I also have a few blog posts planned, one being a perspective from a grieving student, and what I would find helpful in a classroom or from a teacher at this time. I also hope to write a blog post about the best tips and tricks for using Google Classroom and Teams and how to translate classroom norms into online settings.
I really appreciate all of the support and love that has come from so many of you. It makes such a difficult time a little bit brighter. I hope you all continue to use my mom’s incredible products. Most importantly though, I hope that her spirit and love will live on through each and every one of you. My mom had a heart of pure gold, and the kindest, goofiest soul of anyone I have ever met. She will be remembered, and she will be missed. Updates coming soon.
Thank you all,
Madison Taylor
